One of our favorite make ahead lunches is mini corn dogs
They are so easy to make and even easier to reheat
but they are a little pricey at the store!
So I started making them at home and making them a little healthier
What are mini corn dogs made of?
Mini corn dogs are made with a type of sausage or hot dog and a batter similar to a pancake
The only difference is that corn dog batter has cornmeal added and pancakes don’t
Then they are fried instead of cooked in a pan
Can I deep fry frozen mini corn dogs?
Corn dogs are deep fried when they are first made and can be reheated the same way
Just make sure there isn’t ice on them since oil and water don’t mix
If you want to reheat mini corn dogs in a fryer, heat the oil to 350 degrees
If they are frozen, cook for about 8 to 10 minutes
Using a thermometer is helpful to know exactly when to stop
They take closer to 4 minutes if you thaw them first
How long do you microwave mini corn dogs?
You can reheat mini corn dogs using the microwave as well
They will be a little softer than they would be if you use oil or an air fryer, but the microwave works in a pinch
To reheat in the microwave, place mini corn dogs on a microwave safe plate and microwave for between 30 and 60 seconds
Be careful not to overcook or they will split
How long do you air fry mini corn dogs?
My favorite way to reheat mini corn dogs is in the air fryer
They come out nice a firm but you don’t need to deal with a fryer again
To air fry, place mini corn dogs into the air fryer in a single layer
Air fry at 380 degrees for about 7 minutes
Make sure to flip half way through to fully reheat
And that’s it!
What kind of meat are mini corn dogs?
The meat inside of mini corn dogs depends on who made them.
Store Bought ones vary a lot
And you can choose any sausage or hot dog you want when you make them
Just like all homemade recipes, there is freedom when choosing the quality of ingredients you use
