I love ice cream!
There is never a time when I am not ready for an ice cream treat
So when I saw this Kitchenaid attachment, I had to have it!
It was a little confusing to put together the first time, but it’s very easy!
How to use the Kitchenaid ice Cream maker
The first thing you need to do is wash and dry the Ice cream mixer bowl
Then that needs to go into the freezer for 24 hours
I put it in my freezer that goes to 0 degrees and it works great
Once the 24 hours is done, take the plastic piece with the spring and see the labels on it
Mine has an arrow but you can have one that has an A and a B
Slide the piece on the metal above where you put your mixer attachments so the arrow points to where you put your attachments
If you have one with the AB, the A should face the attachment on the mixer
If your mixer has a spring, put it the other way so the B is facing the attachment piece
Put your ice cream mixer bowl in like your normal one
Make sure it is attached on both sides and the back
Place the agitator into the bowl and line it with the piece you added before
Raise the bowl or lower the top so the pressure keeps all the pieces together
And that’s it!
You will need to set the speed to 1 for ice cream And ½ for Gelato for 30 minutes
Why isn’t my ice cream thickening?
one common issue is ice cream not freezing right
I have made ice cream 4 times so far and haven’t had that issue, but I think that’s because my freezer is colder than most people’s freezer
Make sure you have your mixture ready before setting up your ice cream maker so it doesn’t warm up while waiting to start
Ingredients:
1.5 cups of whole milk
1.5 cups heavy whipping cream
⅔ cup sugar
2 tsp vanilla extract
6-8 Oreos (I like the double or mega stuf ones)
Instructions:
Put all the ingredients into a bowl except the Oreos and mix until fully combined
Set up your ice cream maker and set your KitchenAid to 1
Pour in your ice cream mixture and let it run for 30 minutes
You should be able to hit it with a flashlight and not see too much shine
If it is really shiny, that means the bowl isn’t freezing the cream enough
Remove the ice cream from the stand mixer
Crush the Oreos and add it to the vanilla ice cream
Fold until just combined
Add your ice cream to a container
I use these containers
Eat now as soft serve or freeze for at least 2 hours for normal ice cream
This made 1 liter and a small bowl full for me
