Homemade goodies are fun and always enjoyed

I have been learning to make chocolate bars at home

I started with reeses and now ive done crunch bars

These crunch bars are healthier than the ones you buy

If you want them closer to the original, use popped rice instead of popped quinoa

What are the crunches in a crunch bar?

The crunches inside of the crunch bar are popped rice, but you can use popped quinoa in place of popped rice in any recipe.

Popped rice is made by cooking rice, drying it, and then popping it in the oven

Popped Quinoa is made by putting dry quinoa in a very hot pan and popping it similar to popcorn

You can also buy either one already popped

The pieces are bigger if you buy them since they are pressure popped

What kind of chocolate is used in crunch bars?

Crunch bard use milk chocolate in their recipe, but you can use anything you want when making it at home

If you use dark chocolate and Quinoa, the crunch bar will actually be healthy

Sometimes I use peanut butter in my chocolate instead of coconut oil

The sky is the limit!

Do you need a chocolate mold to make these?

When I make these, I use a cute chocolate mold that i got off of Amazon

But you dont need anything fancy to make these if you don’t want to buy anything

Just put parchment paper or spray a cookie sheet before pressing the chocolate mixure into it

Then cut the chocolate into sections when it is hard

Ingredients:

¾ cup Quinoa or Popped Quinoa

1 cup chocolate chips

1 tbsp coconut oil

Instructions:

Take a pan and heat it until it is very hot

Add ¾ cup Quinoa to the pan

Gently stir until you hear popping then continue until it looks toasted, smells nutty, and the popping slows down

Allow to start cooling

Skip these steps and use a cup of popped quinoa if using pre-popped quinoa that you can buy

Put 1 cup of chocolate chips and 1 tbsp coconut oil into a double broiler

Melt until smooth

Pout quinoa into the chocolate and mix until combined

Press chocolate into the molds

Bang the molds onto the counter to remove air bubbles and smooth out the top

Put tray in the freezer for 30 minutes, or until the chocolate is hard

Remove the chocolate from the molds and enjoy!
